Challenge

This cottage is one of the oldest in the Kilmore Township, believed to have been built in 1857.
Maintenance work over the years has not helped to preserve internal and external walls.
Constructed of locally sourced basalt with minimal footings has meant walls are moving and in some cases collapsing.
Internal walls are sitting onto the soil which has caused rot.

Solution

Reliance is working with the shire, Heritage Victoria and stakeholders to strategies the refurbishment of this structure.
Expert contractors have been engaged to assist with the restoration which includes, walls and chimney restoration, roof and flashing replacement, solid plastering, carpentry etc.
Inspection and hold points have been included in our management plan that has been developed specifically for this project.
