Challenge

Located at Albert Park, Clarke Shields Pavilion is a much-loved hub for several sporting clubs.

The expansion and enhancement of these facilities aimed to meet the diverse and changing needs of visitors, enabling more women, girls and people with accessibility requirements to use the venue.

The site is in a very busy location with pedestrians and sports trainers utilising the open spaces.

Major in-ground services run directly under the footprint of both buildings.

Solution

Working with Parks Victoria and Case Meallin we managed to get a clear understanding of the space available for the construction period and how sporting groups and the F1 will affect progress.

It was imperative to develop a traffic management plan for deliverys and to allow clear paths of travel for the thousands of pedestrians that use the fields and paths daily.

A project management plan was developed which included a Covid safe plan along with OHS requirements that are specific to this site.

The pavilion has been expanded to deliver new female-friendly and all-abilities access changerooms, as well as a gym, meeting area and physiotherapy space.
