Challenge

The project site is adjacent to the college and is separated only by a council laneway. Originally, it comprised two separate properties, each with its own service connections and access to South Road.

The site contained two existing buildings. One had no practical value and was demolished, while the other was covered by a heritage overlay, requiring the retention and enhancement of the building’s façade and original architectural features.

An additional challenge was coordinating with council and VicRoads to obtain the necessary permits for the scope of works.

Solution

We engaged a traffic management company to deal with permits related to road and footpath closures which were required from day one.

Our proven experience in the Heritage sector has allowed us to rejuvenate a tied bungalow while retaining its vintage design characteristics, strengthen the structure and introduce new functionality.
