Challenge

This MACS project saw the scope to demolish an existing brick retaining wall whose footings had moved, meaning the wall was leaning outwards and had the possibility of falling.

We did come across a lot of latent conditions in ground, such as gas mains, water pipes, stormwater pipes, tree roots and footings that seemed to have no purpose.

Solution

The design saw enormous footings, very high brick walls with new fencing, landscaping and new handrails and finally lighting of the made good original church.

The council was an issue with our occupation of the 120mts of footpath but our efforts with our traffic management plan got the permits over the line. The outcome was that we built the great wall of Strathmore.
